Using the Shop
To use specific equipment, you must schedule press or bindery time in advance.
Members and anyone else who has completed certification may use the equipment they have been approved to operate without supervision.
You are expected to adhere to Book Arts Guidelines. Unless arranged for, you are expected to provide all the materials needed to complete your project, and to leave the Shop in the same or better condition than you found it.
Equipment available
The following equipment is available for use by members and certified users, as well as for public classes and workshops:
- 400+ cases of letterpress type (wood and lead)
- Two Vandercook Universal I presses
- Etching press (14”×24” bed)
- Board shear (28” throat)
- Guillotine paper cutter (17” throat)
- Paper cutter (22” throat)
- Backing press
- Kingsley foil stamping machine
Shop Open Hours
The shop is open on specific days for Members to access and use the space and equipment. Members can also arrange to reserve press or bindery time with supervision by making an appointment.
Reserving Bindery and Shop Time
To schedule use of the shop or specific equipment, you must be a member, or have communicated with the shop manager to sign up for a reservation.
