Memento Fabric Book

In this two day class we will create a soft fabric book filled with meaning and intention, inspired by our own collection of fabric pieces.

We will create the folios from simple layered and stitched fabric collages. In the process we will explore different hand sewing and embroidery techniques, and we will discuss different ways to stabilize the pages and the book cover for added structure and rigidity. We will also learn different ways to edge the fabric pages and how to create a variety of closures.

You are encouraged to bring small amounts of fabric that has personal meaning, such as pieces of lace, vintage napkins, clothing remnants etc. The course-provided materials include base fabric, stabilizers, interfacing, book binding thread, and embroidery thread. The workshop fee includes $15 for material costs.

The class will run from 10 am to 4 pm both days. Tools and supplies will be provided. Please bring a bag lunch.
