Tunnel Books

Originally called peepshow books, tunnel books are dimensional books that emerged in 15th century Europe to illustrate the mechanics of vision and have evolved into picture books that function as miniature stages, creating theater-like scenes when fully extended. They are constructed by adhering cut paper pages to the folds of two concertinas, also called accordion folds. In this 2-hour workshop, we will explore 2 different tunnel book formats to create depth and dimension with paper. No previous bookmaking experience is necessary and all materials will be provided.
